Sacha Ferrari is a researcher at the Center for Logic and Philosophy of Science of the Institute of Philosophy at KU Leuven. Sacha Ferrari received a Bachelor’s in Physics from the University of Liège (ULg, Belgium), a Master’s degree in Physics and a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the Free University of Brussels (ULB, Belgium) and a PhD in Philosophy from KU Leuven.
As part of a multidisciplinary project, Sacha’s doctoral research in philosophy and policy science investigates how uncertainty in science impacts policy-makers and – as a consequence – their collective political decisions. In addition of portraying a critique of the evidence-based policy making account in policy science, this dissertation considers several aspects related to the daily practice of the scientists and policy-makers, such as the type of uncertainty they face, the way uncertainty is communicated from the scientists to the policy-makers, the time pressure of decision-making, the network of scientific interactions, and the bounded rationality of the agents.
Sacha’s research also focuses on fake news, conspiracy theories, and science and society. See my list of publications here.
